Luxury Interior Design in Turks and Caicos for a Private Island Living
Set in the exclusive setting of Ambergris Cay, this luxury interior design project for a private villa began with the selection of a small number of Greenapple pieces and gradually evolved into a much broader interior design collaboration. Created for a New York–based couple building a magnificent home in this Caribbean paradise, the project grew from an initial product enquiry into a full-house furnishing solution shaped by trust, technical expertise, and a shared vision for refined island living.
Passionate about design and already involved in the architectural development of the house, the client was looking for an interior partner capable of understanding the specific demands of building and furnishing a residence in such a geographically sensitive location. Materials, finishes, comfort, durability, and logistics all need to respond to a climate marked by humidity, sea exposure, and intense outdoor living. Greenapple’s ability to combine sculptural design with material performance and full project support became central to the development of the house.

Inside the Design
Developed under the creative direction of Rute Martins, this project unfolded through a close and highly collaborative process. The client initially approached Greenapple by selecting a few statement consoles — including the Armilar, Formosa, and Chiado — for specific areas of the house. From the very first meeting, however, it became clear that the scope of the project would demand much more than the supply of individual pieces.
Because the villa is located on one of the smallest islands in Turks and Caicos, the project required careful planning not only in design terms, but also in delivery, installation, and long-distance coordination. As Greenapple worked closely with the client to understand the needs of the house and the realities of furnishing a remote island property, trust grew quickly.

In the dining room, Greenapple developed a completely new interpretation of the Windy Dining Table, redesigned to establish a more coherent dialogue with the Sistelo line, including the coffee tables and sideboard. This bespoke development allowed the dining area to gain a stronger visual identity while reinforcing the project’s tailored character.
The living room was also shaped through custom design. For this space, Greenapple developed custom-made sofas and paired them with the Caju Lounge Chairs, already known for their strong outdoor suitability and relaxed sculptural presence. Because of the high humidity levels on the island, the internal structures of the sofas and armchairs were treated with outdoor-grade solutions, even when intended for interior use, ensuring long-term resistance without compromising comfort or elegance.
The bedroom areas brought another important layer to the project. From the outset, the client explained that the property would be managed by one of the region’s leading hotel operators, which meant the bedroom furniture needed to respond not only to residential expectations, but also to hospitality standards. Durability, mattress dimensions, bed linen compatibility, and everyday functionality all became part of the briefing. In response, Greenapple developed fully custom-made bedroom furniture, including beds crafted in noble wood, genuine leather, and brass, as well as bespoke bedside tables with different quartz and onyx tops. These pieces were also designed with integrated USB charging solutions, allowing technology to be stored and charged discreetly inside the drawers.
The outdoor areas followed the same logic of performance and material sensitivity. Genuine leather suitable for outdoor applications, finishes adapted to maritime exposure, and outdoor fabrics from brands such as Dedar were used throughout the project to ensure beauty, comfort, and resistance in a demanding seaside environment.
At the end of the installation, the client shared her surprise that such a substantial order had arrived without a single issue. This is a reflection not only of the quality of the pieces themselves, but also of the care invested in packaging, shipment, and project management from Portugal to the Caribbean. More than a luxury interior design project, this residence demonstrates Greenapple’s ability to create refined, climate-ready homes, translating craftsmanship, comfort, and performance into a complete vision for island living.
