The Biloba Sideboard was born from a desire to reinterpret Portugal’s architectural heritage, transforming the grandeur of its monumental structures into a contemporary design statement. Inspired by the country’s rich history, this piece reflects Greenapple’s commitment to craftsmanship, where tradition and innovation merge in perfect harmony.
The chosen monument was the Alcobaça Monastery, a landmark that evolved over centuries, integrating Gothic, Manueline, and Baroque influences. Captivated by its grandeur and intricate details, we sought to translate its architectural essence into a statement piece that honors the vision of our ancestors through modern design.
Beyond its historical roots, the Biloba Sideboard is also shaped by organic influences. Handcrafted from exquisite marble, it showcases a striking interplay of different noble stones, seamlessly assembled in a rhythmic pattern of intermingling arches, forming the delicate silhouette of Ginkgo Biloba leaves.
The marble’s natural composition creates a harmonious contrast between the bold geometry of the structure and the softness of nature’s influence. Each marble slab is meticulously selected, cut, and inlaid with precision by our master artisans, ensuring perfect symmetry and alignment of the veining—a true testament to Greenapple’s craftsmanship.
